Eulsun Kim has been hailed as a new rising star in piano technique. During her entire performing and teaching career she has maintained a strong interest in researching the most effective way to develop piano technique. As a result of her many years of study and research, she is writing a new book based on her teaching methods.
During the last decade in America and Korea, she has given presentations to university teachers, private teachers, and students about her piano method and how to incorporate it with the piano technique books by Terrence Rust. Her lectures and workshops are based on her teaching and performing experience.
Eulsun Kim received a Bachelor of Music degree with honors from the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Before studying in America, she was a student for five years with Jerome Rappaport, himself a student of Joseph Lhevinne and a Fulbright Professor of Piano in Korea.
After presenting numerous recitals in America, Eulsun Kim gave her Korean debut recital in Daegu. She taught for ten years at the University of Mokwon in Daejon where she was also active as a performer. She remains active, and is much in demand, as a performer.
Terrence Rust has devoted his career to discovering the most effective means for developing an artistic and expressive piano technique. He has written six technique books on three levels: beginning, intermediate, and virtuoso, all based on the idea that the only problem to be solved in playing the piano is how to go from one note to the next.
At the same time he maintained an exciting and diverse performing career. He performed solo and chamber recitals, with orchestras, and on university guest artist series and community concerts. He is widely recognized as an outstanding teacher of piano whose students have been contest winners and have gone to their own careers in music. He studied at the University of Iowa and the Juilliard School.
Terrence Rust and his colleague Eulsun Kim have established Tersun Press and Tersun Piano Technique as the forums for presenting their piano technique workshops, lectures, master classes, and the piano technique books.
